Today was an amazing day. We started at 8:00 am at the Hollywood Rental clearance sale. Hollywood Rentals is one of the big production equipment rental houses and everyone was there to find great deals on used equipment. Our gaffer, Shawn Anderson, was on line early and picked out $ 1,000 worth of equipment we needed, mostly power related items. We probably saved $ 3,000 over retail prices, and because Shawn knows his stuff, we got some great deals.
Then Diana and I took off for Las Vegas. It is a 4 hour drive with no traffic, but sadly, we couldn’t get out of town till 1:30 so we hit some traffic. The mission? Well, I was offered the original movie poster art to Silent Running, which is one of my favorite movies of all time. So after the movie’s director, the legendary Douglas Trumbull, didn’t snap up the art, the owner, Star Trek VFX Producer Ronald B. Moore, offered it to me and I couldn’t get it fast enough!
The frame is 30 years old, so I will be getting that changed! But this is a holy grail, so very happy!
