Captain’s Log – March 1, 2015

By March 1, 2015 April 2nd, 2015 Captain's Log

Welcome all! Alec Peters here for the first of my many Captain’s Log updates. The idea here is to update all our loyal donors on what is happening day by day in Axanar.

So much is happening and I feel that sometimes we don’t communicate enough and keep you informed. I know you all are dying to know what goes on behind the scenes, so we plan to step up our communication with you all. The first two ways we are doing so, and the ones that will have a significant impact on your understanding of Axanar, is this daily journal and the weekly video casts we will be doing, where Rob Burnett and I will update you every week through video

So yesterday, Saturday, Feb 28th, we were at Long Beach Comic Con in Long Beach, CA for a relatively small convention where we had a panel and a booth. When we showed up we had no booth at all, so I quickly found the Battlestar Galactica Fan Club, and lo and behold, Luciana Caro was there, and we are friends from the 2009 BSG auctions I produced. They had plenty of space, so I found an unused table and we were off to the races.

Alec and Lucianna watching 1

Luciana had never seen “Prelude to Axanar” so we showed her and she was blown away and told me she HAD to have a part in it!

Tribute salute to Nimoy

The con started with a moment of silence and salute to Leonard Nimoy who passed away the day before.

Richard Hatch arrived just in time for our 1:00 panel, which filled a tiny room, and was a great success. I am still amazed how many people have NOT seen Prelude!

Diana Kingsbury, our Director of Fulfillment got Richard to sign the last of the Kharn busts while he was there.

And Luciana was fascinated we had merchandise for our project!

We had Jonathan, Derek and Martin help out with the booth.

After we retired to PF Changs for some dinner and chocolate cake! A good time was had by all.
