Captain’s Log – Feb. 13th, 2017

By February 14, 2017 Captain's Log

Monday, February 13th, 2017

Well, this past weekend Mike Bawden flew into town and we had three days of planning meetings. Mike has been our Public Relations Director and has recently taken on a bigger role with Axanar Productions.  The meetings were focused on three main issues:

1)  The Axanar film, what we are going to produce and how.

2)  Axanar Productions as a production company and expanding our mission and our future plans to include making more Star Trek fan films as well as other science fiction and genre content.

3)  The future of Industry Studios, our sound stage which we built with the help of our fans and donors.

I am very excited to say the planning meetings went fantastic and we have a solid plan that we will share with donors shortly.  We know you all are dying for us to get to work making Axanar again, as are we.  But the any operation needs a solid plan, and so Mike, Diana, Rob, Bing Baily, Bill Hunt and Bill Watters all got together for some in depth meetings to plan our strategy.

I can tell you we are all excited, and I think what we will present will get you all as excited and interested as we are!  There is a LOT of content coming your way, and the Axanar universe is about to go boldly in some very exciting directions.

Mike joined Crysstal and I for dinner Friday night. Yes the deserts were fantastic!

Great to see you guys back in action again! Are there any limits on the time that the film can take now? If so, is it possible to do multiple films so the detail and the story is told completely as originally envisioned? Just wondering, not expecting any details since you guys are in the planning stage :).

    • Alec Peters says:

No, we can only do two 15 minute films!

      • Darren says:

Here isan idea for you. Do six different parts all from different perspectives. All standalone episodes on the
same subject. You will still be in compliance with the guidelines, but even able to tell your story.

      • Sven says:

But they didn’t say on witch planet. So, a 15 minute Jupiter film would be fine for me.

  • Keith M Sedor says:

I am SOOOOO excited! (I think I just wet myself a little.) ????????????

  • Sticks Ara says:

I’m happy to hear that things are working out and am looking forward to seeing the finished film.

    Two questions though….
    1) dumb question maybe, but I haven’t heard it being talked about. Will you have to change the design of the Ares??
    2) although you can’t use crowdfunding anymore, is there still a way someone can contribute to help???

    • Alec Peters says:

No and yes, we will have a fund raising drive for Axanar that is private! Stay tuned for details!

  • Chris Butcher says:

So good to see you guys together and planning more wonderful things, including, of course, the exciting conclusion of Axanar! Can’t wait to read the plans and contribute to this. Please know that my contributions are not huge by any means, but I wholeheartedly support the work you are doing! Let me know when we can donate again.

  • Lance Ripplinger says:

I am glad you are able to continue with making Axanar, and I wish you the greatest success! I also (and I am sure many other folks) are also looking forward to what else you have in store for future projects!

  • Mick says:

It’s just unfortunate you couldn’t come to some form of arrangement that would allow a full length feature film that CBS could have on their new subscription channel considering the quality of production. Basically push it and other future productions as a tv movie that people could watch in Discovery’s off-season. There are many potential variations around this concept.

  • Michael Schmidt says:

Does the lawsuit say anything about making a small series with connecting episodes that might tell the story of axanar? This could consist of episodes of around 15 minutes each, so as to stay within the new guidelines….

  • Rick McG says:

Just one (nit pick) thing. Can we please stop calling it a “film”? C’mon, we all know that CBS has said it can only be 2 x 15 segments, and under ANY reasonable persons assumption, that doesn’t amount to a film a.k.a feature length movie, which is what MOST people think of when using the term film. Just be honest, and call them “episodic segments” or something…

  • With the Legendary Apollo (Richard Hatch) on the other side now, who will take over as Kharn, the Undying?
