Dick Tracy 2

Saturday – Sunday, April 23rd-24th, 2016

A quiet weekend to be sure.  But one highlight was going to see Dick Tracy at the New Beverly Cinema.  This is a theater that shows old movies every day.  It really is a fun little theater and has this tiny concession stand that sells White Castle hamburgers!

We were invited to a little pre-movie get-together by our friend Sean Hill, who is doing a documentary on classic movies.  Also there was Doug Drexler and his wife Dorothy. Doug won an Academy Award for his make-up work on Dick Tracy and of course then went to work on Star Trek, where they couldn’t get rid of him for the next 17 years!  Doug worked on TNG, DS9, Voyager and Enterprise.

Doug is simply the nicest man in Hollywood.  I was lucky to have him reach out to me in 2008 to sell his collection of Star Trek memorabilia, which we did in our CBS licensed auction in 2010 (Yes, I was a CBS licensee!).  Since then Doug has introduced me to half a dozen behind-the–scenes people from Star Trek who have all sold their collections through my company Propworx.

The showing of Dick Tracy was almost full!

We also met long time Hollywood writer/producer Tom Greene, who was producer on shows like Magnum P.I. and Knight Rider. A great guy, Tom has been in Hollywood all his life and is one of those guys who knows everything about movies and TV!

The Dick Tracy was almost full and we had a great time.

So, not any Axanar news this weekend, but I can say the lawyers are working furiously on our response, which is due Monday.  I saw a first draft Sunday a night and as always, was very impressed.
