Today was Day 5 in the Alec Peters/Axanar Productions V. Paul Jenkins/Meta Studios case. The majority of the day was taken up with the Defense doing their direct questioning of Robert Meyer Burnett. In fact the Defense went so long that the Palintiff’s lawyer (Alec Peters side), did not get a chance to even start their cross examination. Alec and his attorney had the ability to have the testimony struck from the record if they wanted to, but since a lot of Robert Meyer Burnett’s testimony contradicted Mike Bawden’s testimony, and Rob basically did what Rob does, talk a lot about film, which really is not what this trial is about, it was decided to allow it into the record, even with Alec and his Attorney deciding to waive their right to cross examine Rob as a witness
So the first week is done in the trial, Alec Peters has been granted a lot of wins by the court, the biggest one being the Amended Pre-Trial Order that crushed Paul’s counterclaim of defamation. Alec and Axanar could not have asked for a better week in front of the court, and jury. The trial continues on Monday, September 29, 2025.
