Always loved the Daedalus class. I'd imagine they'd had at least Oberth level weaponry (2 puny Phasers), could probably trade a little bit of fire if it came down to it lol. After all, Klingons almost never distinguish between combatants and non combatants in battle.... This provides a logical reason why the Daedalus shows up alot in beta canon in the TOS era (2270 mainly).... Their usefulness as hospital ships here likely convinced Starfleet that their design still had a few decades of worth left in it. Not as a serious combatant of course, one Photon Torpedo from a D6 or D7 would reduce it to superheated debris... But they'd be very capable in an Oberth like role... Science missions, delivering vaccines or antidotes to planets suffering plagues. Tarsus IV for example lol.
