Now that we are finished with principal photography and are well into post-production, we want to give our loyal fans an update on the post-production. For all of you not familiar with film making, post-production is everything that happens after you finishing filming all of your actors. This includes editing, visual effects, sound design, music and titles.
Mark Edward Lewis, who has been with Axanar since 2013, is our Post-Production Supervisor as well as our Editor. He is driving the entire process and working with our VFX team, grapihic artist and compositor to finish the visuals. After the visuals are done he will tackle the sound design, which he was in charge of for Prelude to Axanar.
So here is the latest:
VFX
The VFX for the next two episodes of Axanar are coming along brilliantly. We are now finished with pre-viz of Episode IV and finished VFX shots have been rolling off the assembly line! We have also begun on the pre-viz for episode V. Of course Episode V is the Battle of Axanar itself, so the VFX are even more complicated and demanding with literally hundreds of ships.
We hope you enjoy this sneak peak VFX shot! There is so much more to come as our VFX teams
GREEN SCREEN COMPOSITING
The first of three backgrounds we need for green screen compositing has been finished by Dana Wagner. The Hall of the Immortals is a brilliant piece of VFX that will be used for our three Klingons in the next two episodes. We won’t tell you yet who they are, though we have been dropping hints on our YouTube live streams!
The backgrounds for Starbase One (for human characters) and Surak Station (For Vulcans) are being worked on now. This time, we shot most of the Starfleet captains practically on the amazing USS Ares bridge set, which reduces the number of actors who need to be composited. But with 19 actors total, we still have a good number that need to be composited. Fortunately, our new compositor is an industry pro who happens to be a huge Star Trek fan and we are excited to have Ryan aboard to Axanar.
So that is where we are n the post-production process! Stay tuned for more info as we continue to drive towards completion of the epic that is Axanar!
Thank you for the sneak peek. Can’t wait for the finished product.

Looks amazing as always. We are starved for anything Trek. Shame CBS/Paramount have such an issue with fan films. If they would do stories like this and in a timely manner wouldn’t we all be happy.
Can’t wait to see your completed production.
