I was off to Las Vegas to do some work on the Avengers Exhibit I work with. But that doesn’t mean the team at the studio wasn’t busting their butts. Dean and Dominic finished building the Pilot console and it looks amazing. Based on a Eric Henry design, the console is at the center of the USS Ares bridge. The photo above shows all the new elements in place.
The chair is from Ender’s Game. We were fortunate to get a ton of great set pieces from that movie at auction.
Of course everyone takes time to play on the bridge!

Cannot wait to see the scenes from the filming. This is going to be soooooo good.
Oh, my Goddess!!! The Bridge looks phenomenal!!
Is this the same Eric Henry from “Pacific 201”?
I do really love the way you give the history of the various set pieces the studio acquires. I never before had any real awareness of the waves and currents set design, construction and property masters swam in. Every bit of it gives additional layers of appreciation for the finished product, and how vital each person in the crew is to the process. We are Axanar!
The bridge looks amazing!! I love it!
Looks amazing. Is filming still going to go ahead as planned or will you hold off pending resolution to the legal issue?
Alex, thanks for giving me your time (and a lift!) when I was in LA, and thanks to Dean for the great studio tour. Just a reminder to anyone wanting to visit the studio, make an appointment like I did. Don’t just come knocking on the door!
I do love the bridge. Yet the pragmatic engineer in me says, “Why do the handrails need to continue around the backside of the two front consoles?” Isn’t this just a place for people to leave coffee cups that get thrown around the room when the next photon torpedo hits? I might lose those … still, I never notice them on the original bridge CGI animation.
