Today Axanar Costume Designer Kate Bergh and I had another Skype session with our costume team in Italy. Claude and Angela had already put together some sample tunics for us to see after our discussion last week. Kate was especially interested in making sure the women’s tunics had some features to make them fit better. And getting the collar right was really important.
Of course these are all “Cage” era tunics, because Prelude to Axanar and The Four Years War documentary, take place in 2255 (interestingly, the year Star Trek Discovery decided to take place). And honoring canon is very important to us, and that means you use the tunics that were established as canon in The Cage.
We need 8 of these tunics for the next two episodes, as we have a much bigger cast. And this is just the Starfleet officers!

I know the you not to keep it as cannon as possible , but are the uniforms going to be more modern than the 60s
